What to wear to a sangeet as a guest
The sangeet is the night for color and dancing. How to choose earrings that move, a necklace that photographs well, and what to skip.
Journal ·

The sangeet is the loudest, happiest night of a wedding: music, dancing and a lot of photos. Your jewelry needs to look good in all three.
Choose earrings that move
You'll be dancing, so pick earrings that swing: tassels, long leaf drops or bell-shaped lily earrings. They catch the light and look alive in videos. Make sure the closure feels secure before you go.
One focal point
Pick either a statement necklace or statement earrings, not both at full volume. With a heavy lehenga blouse, let the earrings lead. With a plain blouse or a sharara, a collar or a full set works beautifully.
Think about the colors of the night
Sangeet outfits are often bright: pinks, greens, yellows. Gold-tone goes with all of them. Pearl-look beads add softness next to deep colors, and green or red stones can pick up a color from the outfit.
Comfort counts
It's a long night. Choose pieces you can forget you're wearing, and keep lighter earrings in your bag in case you want to change halfway through.
The guest rule
Leave the most elaborate bridal looks to the bride's family. A matched set or a statement pair is festive and still clearly a guest.
