The three rules

1. On last, off first. Put jewellery on after lotion, perfume and hairspray, and take it off before showering, swimming, the gym or sleep.
2. Keep it dry. Water, sweat and chlorine wear plated finishes fastest.
3. Store it apart. Keep each piece separate so it doesn't scratch the others.

By material

• Gold-tone and rose gold-tone finishes: wipe with a soft, dry cloth after wearing. Don't use polishing cloths, toothpaste or dips; they remove plating.
• Pearl-look beads: wipe with a slightly damp cloth, then dry. Store necklaces flat.
• Stones and petals: clean with a soft, dry brush; don't soak. Take earrings off over a soft surface so nothing chips if dropped.

Honest expectations

Plated finishes soften over time. That's normal for fashion jewellery and isn't a fault. If a finish wears through within the first 30 days, contact us.
